Baptism

Please contact the Office at 318.445.1451, ext. 14 to schedule your child’s baptism.  We kindly ask that before calling, you gather information such as parent’s full names, Godparents full names, and approximate date you would like the baptism to be held.

First Penance and First Holy Communion

The Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion normally take place when a child is in the second (2nd) grade. Please call the Office to register.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation normally takes place in your child’s 11th grade (junior) year or 12th grade (senior) year. Call the Office for more information.

Marriage

Couples wishing to marry in St. Francis Xavier Cathedral are encouraged to contact our Wedding Coordinator, Mr. Richard Mitchell (318.445.1451, ext. 10), to discuss scheduling and procedures.  Engaged couples must plan to meet our Wedding Coordinator a minimum of six (6) months prior to the intended wedding date to allow sufficient time for marriage preparation.

Weddings at the Cathedral are celebrated on Friday evenings, Saturdays before 1:00 p.m. and Saturday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is appropriate not only for those at the moment of death, but also for those who are serioulsy ill or chronically ill. Please call one of the priests to receive this sacrament.
